Team spirit: The priest on Villanova’s bench
by Leslie Scanlon
Father Rob Hagan is the not-so-tall guy—relative to those in basketball— wearing a clerical collar and hanging out near the end of the Villanova University bench when the men’s basketball team plays. He’s the spiritual anchor of a team that . . .

Our Easter Wish to You
The holy, glad day of the Lord’s resurrection has shone forth today to all. Let us rejoice, brothers and sisters, for this is the day the Lord has made: the mother of all good days, the origin of immortal life, the beginning of all our glory. Therefore on the day of this solemnity so venerable, let us offer congratulations both to Christ and ourselves. To Christ, I say, who, after the victory of the cross, brought back spoils from his enemies . . . to ourselves, because we now see the likeness of our future resurrection and gaze upon the sight of our hoped-for glory in Christ. It is our glory that we consider; it is our beauty the we venerate; our resurrection has begun in Christ and will be brought in us in his time.

NYT writes about Father Robert Hagan, O.S.A., VU Chaplain
We can all connect to the appreciation felt when someone supports us by simply listening. A recent article in The New York Times, You Know Sister Jean, Meet Father Rob by Zach Schonbrun focuses on the influential role Father Rob Hagan, O.S.A., plays as Villanova basketball team’s chaplin. As mentioned in the article, Father Hagan provides an open space for these men to be heard. Father Hagan explains, “They have a million people telling them what to do.” However, when Father Hagan speaks, you can be sure the players listen. This past Palm Sunday’s pre-game prayer offered the team balance as they moved forward, “Don’t drink the perfume. You don’t get too high when things are going well, and you don’t get too low when things are not going so great.”

At the same time, two other friars made their solemn profession. The ceremony was held at Founder's Chapel at the University of San Diego, San Diego, California.
OUR APOLOGIES! DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES the video crew set to broadcast the Mass live from San Diego, had problems with the live feed, but the video taping proceeded and the video can be seen by clicking here, YOU TUBE VIDEO CHANNEL.
Prayerful good wishes go to all of these brothers as they live their commitment to the Augustinian way of life.
