Convocation of the Augustinians of North America Held at Villanova

A Convocation of Augustinians of North America was held June 11-16, 2017, at Villanova. The opening of the convocation was attended by Alejandro Moral, O.S.A., the Prior General, who had traveled from Rome. Father Moral was the principal celebrant for Mass on the opening day. The three priors provincial from the North American provinces were in attendance and each celebrated one of the daily Masses.

Prior General, Alejandro Moral, O.S.A., addressed the friars as the Convocation opened. The priors provincial from each province also addressed the assembled friars, providing a state of their province. The activities of FANA (Federation of Augustinians of North American) since it was created, seven years ago, was also reviewed, as were activities that will be the focus of FANA in the future.

Time was provided in the schedule of the week to allow friars to visit Philadelphia and to visit the first foundation of the Augustinians, Saint Augustine Church in Olde Philadelphia. On Thursday evening, a Mass and the dinner which followed, honored friars whose anniversaries of profession and ordination occur in 2017. The Convocation ended on Friday with a late morning Mass celebrated by Vicar General Joseph Farrell, O.S.A., a member of the Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova.
