Father Richard Cannuli, O.S.A., a professor of fine arts and the curator of the art collection at Villanova University, is well known as a writer of icons. He was recently at Clare Priory in England, conducting a workshop for about a dozen people. The subject he chose for the workshop was the blending of two images he had seen on trips to Italy, the face of Christ from the Shroud of Turin and from the Veil of Manopello. This is the third year Father Richard has held a workshop at Clare Priory, and he is planning to return next year. A new documentary, Shroud: History of a Mystery, made in collaboration with the Vatican, takes a fresh look at the mystery of the Shroud of Turin. Modern technology reveals details about the shroud that were previously unknown. Reviewing the history of the Shroud, which is believed to have covered the body of Christ, the documentary considers arguments both for and against the authenticity of the Shroud.
