William Gregory Gallimore was born to William Gallimore and Anna Cunningham on October 31, 1927 in Moorestown, New Jersey. He had two brothers and three sisters. His early education was in the parochial schools of Saint Cecilia in Pennsauken and Saint Peter in Merchantville, N.J., where his family resided. He attended Camden Catholic High School, graduating in 1945 and received a scholarship to Saint Joseph College in Philadelphia. His college education was interrupted by his enlistment in the Army in September 1946. He served in the Quartermaster Corps and was stationed in Alaska before being honorably discharged in February, 1948. Returning to Saint Joseph's College, he graduated in June 1950 with a degree in business administration. That same year he entered Rutgers University Law School where he remained for three years. In 1953 he experienced a vocation to the life of a religious priest in the Order of Saint Augustine. Later, as a member of the Order, he did graduate studies at the Catholic University of America, where he obtained a master's degree in accounting, and at LaSalle College, where he earned a master's in religious education.
On September 9, 1953 William Gallimore was received into the novitiate at Augustinian Academy on Staten Island, New York. He pronounced simple vows on September 10, 1954 after completing his novitiate at Our Mother of Good Counsel, New Hamburg, N.Y. Three years later, on September 10, 1957, he professed solemn vows. On June 7, 1958 he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop McNamara at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
Father Gallimore's first assignment was to the then vice province of California where he taught bookkeeping at Saint Augustine High School in San Diego from 1959 to 1961. In 1962, he was transferred to Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexel Hill, Pa., where for many years he taught bookkeeping as well as religion. Possessing an outgoing personality, he became a very popular and successful high school teacher and moderator of various classes, of the Spirit Committee, and of intramural sports, as well as coach of the golf team.In the mid-1970s Father Gallimore sought and received several leaves of absence, in part to assist with the support of his widowed mother. In 1984 he was assigned to Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, DC, where he taught history and continued an interest in the Charismatic Movement and the Legion of Mary, as well as the apostolate to those in prison. In 1986, failing in health, he was transferred to Saint Thomas of Villanova Monastery, Villanova, Pa., where he died on July 28, 1986. Father Gallimore is buried in the Augustinian plot at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, Pa.
