Michael Fox, son of Patrick and Margaret Fox was born in Tipperary, Ireland, and was baptized on December 29, 1840, in the Parish of Ballyneale and Graugemockler, Ireland.
On February 2, 1889, Michael, was vested at Villanova, Pennsylvania. He professed first vows on September 19, 1895 with the religious name Brother James and, on September 21, 1898, made solemn profession.
His principal duty was that of a plowman on the farm at Villanova, dedicated to his work for sixteen years. On March 28, 1905, after a day's work he returned to his room, washed and was preparing for the evening meal when he died suddenly at the age of 65. He is remembered as “a good peaceful man, very sincere and quiet, regular at his work and at prayers."
Brother James is buried in the community cemetery at Villanova.
