Patrick Joseph Dundon was born in South Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on March 7, 1893, to Jeremiah Dundon and Grace McFadden. He received his primary and secondary education in the parochial schools in his native city, and worked as a machinist after graduation for a short time. He entered Villanova in September, 1915, and played as guard on the team which became immortal in the history of Villanova by its David vs. Goliath victory over Army that year. He entered the Preparatory Seminary at Villanova in 1916 and was received into the novitiate on June 15, 1918. He made profession of his vows the following ear. In 1920 he was sent to the Collegio Santa Monica in Rome to pursue theological studies. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva on July 8, 1923 by Cardinal Pompilji.
Shortly after ordination, Father Dundon returned to the United States and completed his studies in Washington, D.C. He was assigned as associate to the Church of Saint Rita in Philadelphia, and the following year as associate in the Church of Our Mother of Consolation in Chestnut Hill, Pa. He remained there until 1941 and was prior of the Augustinian Community there during the last three years. For the next ten years he served in Saint Augustine's Parish, Troy, New York. In September 1952 he was assigned as the first Augustinian pastor of the Church of Our Lady of the Angels in Jacksonville, Florida.
In February, 1954, Father Dundon was appointed vicar-prior of the Monastery of Saint Thomas of Villanova to replace the Very Reverend James A. Donnellon, O.S.A., who was appointed President of Villanova College. Later Father Dundon served in Lewisburg, Pa., and at Saint Augustine's Church in Philadelphia, Pa. Father Dundon retired to the Villanova Monastery in failing health in July 1965, where his condition gradually deteriorated until his final illness. He died at Villanova Monastery on Wednesday, September 11, 1968. Father William Krupa, O.S.A., Vicar Provincial, was celebrant of the Funeral Mass offered on September 16th in the chapel of St. Mary’s Hall, Villanova. Father Charles hart, O.S.A., prior of St. Nicholas of Tolentine, Jamaica, N.Y., preached. Burial was in the Community Cemetery at Villanova.
