Patrick Duffy was born in County Cavan, Ireland, the son of Michael Duffy and Catherine Munroe. He immigrated to the United States and made his profession of vows as a brother at Villanova, Pennsylvania, on November 19, 1870. He was the sibling of Brother Stanislaus Duffy of our Province.

Brother Patrick worked as shoemaker at Villanova. He died on July 11, 1877, of cancer of the mouth, brought on by smoking a ‘cutty’ pipe. He was buried in Saint Denis' Cemetery in Ardmore, Pa.
